THE CONFERENCE


Abu Dhabi Center for Corporate Governance is organizing The First Abu Dhabi Corporate Governance Conference titled: “Corporate Governance in the UAE:
Current Realities … Future Prospects”. This conference will take place on the 14th of October, 2009 at the Hilton, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The conference will advocate the strategic development and adaptation of innovative corporate governance practices, designed to enhance the economic competitiveness of Abu Dhabi.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVE


In recent years, Corporate Governance has received international prominence in both the public and private sectors, the topic of CG has been considered of strategic benefits for governments and  companies as they look to protect both their organization’s and stakeholder’s interests, which has enormous implications for the overall well-being of the economy. The key objective of the conference is to explore the current states of the implementation of Corporate Governance in the UAE and highlight the importance of Corporate Governance, particularly in today’s challenging economic environment.

REASONING


As a result, Abu Dhabi Center for Corporate Governance has identified the need to address this profound turn of events for our economy by concentrating on the importance of assessing the rules of Corporate Governance in order to better identify and avoid similar crises in the future. The conference will provide greater insights into these significant issues by exploring the challenges of implementing Corporate Governance practices and identifying necessary changes required to strengthen the overall Corporate Governance sector in the UAE.

The conference will be attended by various business heads, board members, CEOs, top senior executives, academic professors and professionals of similar caliber from across the region. The content of the conference seminars will explore various angles of Corporate Governance including legal and political issues and the possible challenges of implementation.
